Connect the Documentation MCP Server

Choose your MCP-compatible coding agent and add the public server URL. No Mocean account or API token is required.

Focused documentation retrieval

The server exposes two tools. An agent first discovers relevant operations, then retrieves full details only for the operation it needs. This keeps the agent’s context focused while preserving access to complete API contracts.

Discover

list_api_operations

Lists operation IDs, methods, paths, summaries, authentication requirements, and content types. It distinguishes REST calls from webhook routes your application hosts.

Inspect

get_api_operation

Retrieves the complete resolved contract for one operation, including parameters, schemas, authentication, content types, statuses, and field descriptions.

What the server does—and does not do

The Documentation MCP Server gives your coding agent API contracts while you build. Your application calls the Mocean REST APIs itself, using its own API token.

  • It retrieves structured public API documentation.
  • It does not execute API requests.
  • It does not receive or store your Mocean API token.
  • It does not replace the Mocean REST APIs.
  • Generated-code quality still depends on the coding agent, model, prompt, and surrounding project context.
  • Developers should review and test generated code before using it in production.

Troubleshooting

The MCP server does not appear in my agent

Confirm that the URL is exact, the client supports remote Streamable HTTP MCP servers, and your network can reach the endpoint. Restart the client if it does not reload MCP configuration automatically.

The agent answers without using a Mocean tool

Ask it explicitly to use the Mocean Documentation MCP Server. For example: “Use mocean-docs to retrieve the sendSms operation before writing code.”

The response contains only a list of operations

Ask the agent to retrieve the selected operation with get_api_operation. The list tool returns discovery information; the operation tool returns the full contract.
